Summary

Vision Support, in partnership with East Cheshire Eye Society, NHS England, Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester Councils bring together a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of sight loss. They are pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated Sight Loss Information Line. This vital resource has been made possible through generous funding from the National Lottery, ensuring that individuals facing vision challenges receive the support they need.

The Sight Loss Information Line is a pioneering initiative designed to provide comprehensive assistance and guidance to those living with sight loss, their families, and caregivers. People can get information over the phone, request information packs and if they require face to face support, an appointment can be made at The Blue Coats in Chester or the advisors can make a home visit if this is necessary.

Support is offered to people of all ages either with or at risk of sight loss and their families, giving the information and signposting to other services that they need to manage their eye health and remain as independent as possible.

Vision Support has a long history of working with people with Vision Impairments and they strive to ensure that their beneficiaries are at the centre of the development of the organisation. This project has originated from a survey which highlighted that people with sight loss had struggled to get information when they needed it which left people feeling lost and disempowered. Having a service available to people of Cheshire where they can get the information that they need and when they need it will improve people’s confidence and over all wellbeing through being able to access support.

The information line advisors will be able to sign post people to services and support in their local areas and if necessary, they will be able to make referrals on behalf of people with sight loss with their permission.

The Information Line will be open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4.30pm on Friday, with an answering machine service for out of hours enquiries. These will be responded to during normal working hours. For further information contact the Cheshire Sight loss information line on 01244 478910
