New Phone and Online Groups

We are pleased to announce we have launched new virtual and telephone support groups.

Meetings will be held monthly, and it is simple to join – either by dialling in by telephone or by simply clicking a link. There is no set agenda, just an opportunity to chat.

Socialise Virtual Social Group

Working age group for North Wales and Cheshire

Connect with young and working age people living with a vision impairment. Join our virtual meetups by telephone or online via Microsoft Teams. Tech Forum

Whether you are new to technology, want to know more or have some tips you would like to share with others we will be running a Tech Forum with different themes each month facilitated by our Digital Skills Team and running every third Wednesday of the month.

Our first session was discussing all things Apple products – iPhones, iPads and the accessibility software which lots of people living with a vision impairment find accessible.

  • Wednesday 17th April at 10:30am via Teams Guest Speaker: HumanWare. HumanWare will be joining us to tell us about the latest tech available to people living with a vision impairment.

 

  • Wednesday 15th May 10:30am (Hybrid) via Teams or in person at AVOW, Wrexham. Reading is one of the biggest challenges when living with a vision impairment. Rob will be telling us about tech that can help.

 

  • Wednesday 19th June 10:30am (Hybrid) via Teams or in person at Vision Support, Chester. Keith and Rob will talk about screen readers and summarise what is available. They will also be on hand to answer any questions.

 

  • Wednesday 17th July at 10:30am via Teams. Guest Speaker TBC.

Conwy Sight Loss Group Virtual Meeting

A social group to meet others living with sight loss in your community. This group meet virtually on the third Friday of each month from 10:30am – 11.30am. You can join via phone or Microsoft teams.

Mold Visionaires

We are pleased to announce we have a brand new group coming to Mold in Flintshire! Join us for a coffee and a chat on Monday the 20th of May from 12.30pm till 2pm at Caffi Isa.

Caffi Isa is in Mynydd Isa Library Community Centre, Mercia Drive, Mynydd Isa, Mold, CH7 6UH.

This new group will be on the 3rd Monday of every month from 12.30pm till 2pm.

Walled City VI Social and Activities Group

The Bowls group meets every Thursday (April-September) 11:00am – 1:00pm at St Werbergh’s Parish Centre, Brook Street, Chester. Equipment and refreshments provided. All ability levels and volunteers welcome.

Outside of the Bowls season, (September-April) the group will be meeting at Northgate arena, Chester. Every Thursday from 1:00pm – 3:00pm to play Indoor Curling.

Audio Described Cinema Group

Monthly screening at The StoryHouse in Chester. Exact time and date varies.

The StoryHouse in Chester will next be showing a dedicated audio descriptive screening of  ‘Dune 2’ on the 30th of April.

There will be a member of staff from StoryHouse present in the foyer from 10.30am to meet you and the film will start at 11.00am.

The cost is £6.00 per person and any guides or carers are free of charge. Headsets for the audio description will be available via personal headsets and the lighting will remain on low throughout the film.

Chester Swimming and Gym Group

Brio Fitness at Northgate Arena in Chester now offer vision impaired sessions after running taster sessions with Vision Support. The vision impaired sessions are sports sessions tailored to those partially sighted or blind. Gym Sessions Tuesdays 12.30pm – 1.30pm. Swim Sessions Wednesdays 9.30am – 10.30am.

VI Creative Art Sessions Ellesmere Port

This group meets once a month from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Wolverham Community Centre, Cheltenham Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 5DS.

Our final creative art session will be on the following date:
