HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US
This year, Vision Support celebrates its 140th anniversary with a series of Victorian-themed events
2016 marks 140 years of Vision Support, and in celebration of this, we are holding a series of Victorian tea parties throughout June and July of this year, featuring entertainment and a traditional Victorian-style afternoon tea. We are reaching a variety of counties with our afternoons of revisiting the nineteenth century, with events across Cheshire and North Wales and would love for you to come and celebrate with us.
Life for a person with sight loss was, as you’d probably imagine, pretty different in the Victorian era. We’ve come a long way, and these summer events pay tribute to that by giving you a feel for what living with a visual impairment would have been like in the 1800s. Listen to talks on the history of Braille and the history of education and employment for visually impaired people. Enjoy the various pieces of entertainment we have planned. Wander around and mingle with the Lords and Ladies of the manor or sit back, partake of tea and scones and listen to the gramophone.
We have also invited providers of VI resources such as magnifiers, computer software and home appliances to showcase their products at these events, providing a great opportunity for you to try out any helpful new gadgets.

We look forward to giving you good sirs and ladies our salutations on these fine Victorian afternoons:
