Digital Skills Training in Cheshire and North Wales

East Cheshire Eye Society | Digital Inclusion Service

Vision Support is currently working in partnership with East Cheshire Eye Society to provide digital skills support in East Cheshire. The following digital skills services are currently available:

Individual support (virtual) – Whether you are thinking purchasing a digital device and want to know more about what would be the most accessible option for you, or you are looking for training on how to use a device that you already own, we can help. We offer telephone support and training by appointment, ideal for anyone who already has a basic knowledge of technology.

Individual support (in person) – We are pleased to announce that we have now resumed our 1:1 training sessions at the East Cheshire Eye Society Resource Centre in Macclesfield. These sessions will take place two days per month and are ideal for anyone who is brand new to technology, such as anyone wishing for a demonstration of accessible devices. Sessions are by appointment only, so please do get in touch with us to book a slot.

Digital Skills Training Group – This group runs twice per month on a Friday at 11am; see below for upcoming dates. Each session focuses on a different topic, such as “using magnification settings” or “the basics of voice assistants”. Members of the group have opportunities to ask questions as well as sharing what has worked for them personally.

Friday 28^th January – An introduction to communication apps: WhatsApp, Facetime and more.

Friday 11^th February – What can my device do for me?: The differing advantages of tablets, smart speakers and computers.

Friday 25^th February – Interactive session: Your questions, recent challenges, and successes with technology.

Friday 11^th March – Synapptic versus VoiceOver: revisiting screen readers.

Friday 25^th March – Entertainment and media: The best places to access audiobooks, TV, music and podcasts on your device.
